Recently, we were checking Instagram, a wonderful iPhone photo app, and saw that Wedding Planner Mindy Weiss posted a picture of a bridal shower she recently planned…
We literally gasped – primarily because we did this last year for our ‘earth to table’ inspiration for a bridal show at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Could this be a new trend? If so, we are in LOVE!!
Choosing wedding colors is always fun but not always easy. Some couples want to go with white and black but they want to avoid the often seen damask or polka dot prints.
Well, for all you black and white lovers out there – you’re in luck – we believe black and white wedding shouldn’t be limited so we created an inspiration board just for you!
Don’t forget you can always add a ‘pop’ by including your favorite color.
Sometimes, as wedding planners, we don’t immediately realize the impact we have on our couples and even more so, our couples don’t always realize the impact they have on us. One such moment happened recently to Monica.
Prior to her wedding day we were meeting with Melody, an incredible bride from Texas. Melody started to hand Monica her wedding items – all of which had a vintage feel. Monica, in excitement gasped at the paper pinwheels. They were just too adorable! Instantly Melody said, “Monica you would love this store! It’s called BHLDN and they have one location, in Texas.” Melody was spot on in her statement, Monica does love the décor that BHLDN offers and the fact that Melody ‘knew’ Monica so well left a lasting impact.
We at Eventity have heard and blogged about BHLDN in the past but completely forgot about the décor section on their website. (http://www.bhldn.com/the-shop-decor/)
If you’re looking for great ideas and items for your wedding to add that special touch, you have to check out BHLDN. Until BHLDN opens a store in Southern California, Monica will have to travel to Texas to get her BHLDN fix in person.
It’s been about 3 weeks since we had our first 2012 spring wedding and it was truly a great one! So with the help of the talented Bryan Miller we put together an inspiration board inspired by Melanie and Michael’s wedding.
Melanie and Michael are a down to earth couple, so it only made sense that their color palette was a reflection of their personalities. Their dusty earth tones choice, helped compliment the wedding venue, Rancho Buena Vista Adobe, as well as encompass a romantic spring theme. In addition, to the spring theme, the couple wanted to integrate a sense of greenery. They decided to give their guests a planet conscious succulent, each in a Terra Cotta pot – it was a great personal touch and a gift guests could enjoy for years to come. The two main colors Melanie and Michael incorporated throughout their wedding were mint green and the blush peach. As you can see, the mint green emerged in the floral decor as well as in the nail color of both Melanie and her Bridesmaids. The peach appeared in the gorgeous Bridesmaids dresses and the adorable ties that Michael and his Groomsmen wore. In addition, it was the main color the florist, Kiyoko of Cherry Blossom Floral Designs used throughout the venue. Melanie and Michael were truly picturesque newlyweds in their beautifully designed spring wedding.
Brides, if you’re looking for a vintage-spring color palette this could be it!

When it comes to picking wedding colors the majority of couples pick two of their favorite colors or choose colors that compliment the venue. Both are logical approaches that add a personal touch to the wedding.
Though, if you’re looking to step outside the box, we recommend trying black, white and gold.
We have been seeing a lot of great designs with these colors and think it’s time to do an event using them. Of course, don’t stop there though; incorporate a signature color of your choice for that added POP!
These colors, done right, will bring a classy feel to your event.
Below are some photos we have pinned on our virtual and physical inspiration boards. We hope you enjoy!
Besides taking the color palette and using it for a wedding, why not use it for home décor?! These clean colors are both contemporary and classic and when you’re looking for small updates – use varying throw pillows as embellishments. There are endless options!
Recently we were looking through one of our favorite photographers, Bryan Miller’s wedding albums and we saw photos of a couple who incorporated silhouettes as part of their wedding design. We instantly fell in love! The wedding Bryan shot had little silhouettes on their escort cards, invitations, and the couple had a woman come in and make silhouettes for the guests to take home. How cool!
This is definitely an up and coming trend – primarily because it’s nostalgic and reminds us of the good ol’ days.
Your gals of Eventity love silhouettes! Although, the last time Monica had her silhouette created was in kindergarten. Jenn on the other hand, recently had a pillow made by a designer on Etsy the silhouette though is not of Jenn – it’s of her dog, Lola.
Special thanks to Bryan Miller for showing us an up and coming trend!

Kick that parakeet out of its cage, clean it up a bit and put it out as décor at your wedding. Ok, we’re only kidding about kicking the bird out – let the little guy stay in his home and instead go out and buy abrand new clean cage.
Take a look at these inspirational photos for creative ideas on birdcage placement. So fun!
Want a way to make a area in your ceremony or reception site, POP?! Well, here is the answer, paper garland. If we had the crafty hands we are sure we would have garland up the yin yang here at Eventity.
Thanks to Pinterest, here are our favorite ideas… Enjoy!
In prior posts we’ve mentioned considering different layouts for your ceremony. Instead of the traditional theatre-style seating, you have the option to mix it up and create a half moon or complete circle with you, your fiancé and Officiant in the middle.
Our recommendations don’t just stop there though. Thanks to our addiction to Pinterest, we have more ideas to share with you on how to decorate your ceremony alter or entire site.
Enjoy and happy decorating!
